How can I change my page order?

To change the order of your pages, you'll need to head to the Pages > Page manager menu. You'll find a list of the categories you've created. Click on a category to see the pages it contains - to move a page from one category to another, or to change the order, slide it with your mouse pointer, then click to "Save" your changes.

How can I quickly indicate to visitors which pages are new?

You can stick a logo to a page title (on the right) to mark it as "new". Add it to any page from the "More options" field at the bottom of the page manager in your member zone. You can select the date you'd like the logo to stop displaying. If you have a different logo or icon you'd like to use instead, upload another one by selecting "edit "new" image" (must be less than 40 x 40 pixels).

How do I delete a page?

Head to the Pages > Page manager, where you'll find a list of your pages by category.

Pass your mouse over the page you'd like to delete, and select "Delete", then confirm your choice.

Remember: once you've deleted a page, you cannot retrieve it, so make sure you're certain before deleting it (and its text).

How do I add content copied from a word processor?

Most people have a word processor of some sort, and it can be tempting to use it to construct your pages, then copy over the page layout to your doomby website. Unfortunately, the invisible code that is added to text and images (the code that determines the page layout) present in word processors is incompatible with web browsers. In short, you cannot directly copy over content from a word processor to your doomby website. If you do, your pages risk being deformed, or not displaying at all.

If you need to copy content from a word processor, first you'll have to convert it to plain text (thus removing all page formatting). To do this, either save the document as a ".txt" or use a simple text editor and paste your formatted content into a new plain text document. Once you've done this, your content will be 'cleaned' of any formatting code, and you can the paste it directly onto your doomby page using the visual page editor.

There's also a simpler way to paste your pre-formatted content - just select the "Paste as plain text" button of your toolbar and paste your content in the pop-up window. This will clean all the formatting code from the text.

All you need do now is reapply your page formatting, and add your images before saving your page.

How do I fix it without having to start all over again?

The more often you make changes to a make (adding and removing text or other elements), the greater the risk that small fragments of the formatting code get left behind, or wind up in the wrong place. Sometimes, this can cause your page formatting to go awry. If this happens, the best thing to do is to remove all the formatting from the page then reapply it.

To remove your formatting, select all your text (or just the part that's not displaying correctly), then click the "Remove formatting" toolbar button. This will remove all the HTML page formatting code from the selected text. You can then reapply your formatting.

How do I access the list of hidden pages?

Head to the "Hidden pages" tab in the Pages >Page manager menu. You'll find a list of all your hidden pages, listed by category.

How do I insert a link?

To insert a link using the visual editor, first type then select the text to which you want to attach the link. With the text selected (highlighted), click the "Insert/edit link" button from the toolbar.

In the pop-up window, you'll need to provide the URL for the link, including "http://" (if you don't, the link won't work). Then save your changes.

How do I insert a link to a hidden page?

To link to a hidden page, you'll need to obtain its URL. First head to the Page manager menu, then select the "Hidden pages" tab.

You'll see a list of your hidden pages - click the text "Link to this page" (beside the title of the page to which you want to link). The URL of the page will be displayed - select and copy it, then paste it in the page editor wherever you need to create your link.

How do I do it?

It's easy to add code to a page (for example, Javascript code to display a banner on your page).

First copy the code you'd like to add to the page. Then position the cursor where you'd like to add your banner on the page with the visual editor, and click the "Paste as plain text" toolbar button. In the pop-up window, paste the code and save your changes. You can check to make sure you've saved it correctly by navigating to the page on your website.

If you're not sure of what you're doing, don't edit this part of your website!

doomby websites have a number of auto-added META tags, such as:

- the website description, and
- the keywords characterizing the site.

You can add other tags if you need to, for example to better optimize your website for search engines. To add additional META tags, navigate to the Configuration > Editable zones menu.

You can also add additional content, such as javascript code, in this section. If you do, try to place your meta tags first, then your code.

Remember - if you don't correctly place or close your tags, or add header tags ( ) in this zone, your website may no longer display correctly, or at all.

How do I create pages using HTML?

HTML is the basic 'code' used to create webpages and format their content. If you'd prefer, you can create or edit your doomby webpages using a HTML editor.

To create a new page using the HTML editor, navigate to Pages > New page and select the "HTML editor" tab.

You can now enter the HTML code directly onto your new page, or you can use the links to add some of the common HTML formatting tags automatically.

The contents or the menus are going all over the place and I can't get the settings to save when I apply them. What should I do to get things right?

There's probably something wrong with the HTML page code. If the problem is present throughout your website, check the editable HTML zones first (at the top and bottom of your website, and at the bottom of your side menu(s)). Make sure that all opened HTML tags are closed.

If the problem only concerns one page (or a few pages), check the HTML code of the page(s) and check that all open tags are closed. Sometimes it only takes one unclosed tag (like <div> ) to completely ruin the page layout of your whole website.

If you are using an older web browser, such as Internet Explorer 6, update to a later version or a different browser and see if the problem is related to the browser.
